SUMMARY OF TENTATIVE AGREEMENT

BETWEEN ACE-AFSCME LOCAL 2250 &

THE PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2006

 

Contained below is a summary of the tentative agreement between ACE-AFSCME LOCAL 2250 and the Board of Education effective July 1, 2006.  All contract language contained in the current negotiated agreement shall remain in effect unless changed in items contained below.

 

Prior to taking effect, the agreement must be approved by the ACE-AFSCME Local 2250 membership and the Board of Education.  The Local 2250 Executive Board and the Local 2250 negotiating team has voted to recommend approval to the Local 2250 membership.

(1)       A.        Wage Increase – All employees covered by this agreement shall                                receive a five percent (5%) wage increase effective July 1, 2006.

 

B.                 Health Service Employees on Salary Table 600 shall receive an additional five percent (5%) wage increase effective July 1, 2006.

 

C.                Food Service Employees on Salary Table 400 shall receive an additional one percent (1%) wage increase effective July 1, 2006.

 

(2)               Anniversary Increase – All employees eligible for a step or longevity increase shall receive their salary adjustment on their appropriate anniversary date.

 

(3)               All employees who have reached the maximum longevity increase and those employees who will reach the maximum longevity increase during the July 1, 2006 – June 30, 2007 contract will receive a one time $200.00 stipend.

 

(4)               Healthcare – There shall be no increase in the current healthcare premiums.

 

(5)               Working Out of Classification – Employees required to work outside of their classification for no more than 10 days (current contract 20 days) shall be compensated at the appropriate rate of pay beyond the 10 days.

 

(6)               Promotion – When an employee is promoted or his or her position reclassified upward three (3) grades or more he or she shall be placed on the appropriate grade at a step which approximates a three (3) step increase (current contract maximum is two (2) step increase).

 

(7)               Liability Protection – Has been increased from a maximum of $200.00 to $300.00 for the destruction of clothing, eye glasses, and contact lenses.  Watches shall be added to a maximum of $125.00.

 

(8)               Leave for Death – Has been changed to bereavement leave.  In addition, the loss of an aunt or uncle has been added to the list of persons which authorize bereavement leave.

 

(9)               Tuition Reimbursement – Will be increased from $120.00 per credit hour to $200.00 per credit hour.

 

(10)          Contracting Out of Work – Local 2250 and the Board will jointly establish a committee to study and address the issue of contracting out work normally performed by Local 2250 members.

 

(11)          Central Garage Personnel – The total allotment shall be increased to $1000.00.

 

           In Service Training – shall be increased from 16 hours to 24 hours per year.

 

(12)          Food Service Personnel – who have achieved the certification of American Food Service Excellence (ASE) shall receive an increase from .25 cents per hour to a three percent (3%) per hour.

 

                 Uniform Allowance shall be increased from $50.00 per year to $100.00 per year.

 

(13)          Paraprofessionals – with an active state license or national certificate shall receive a three percent (3%) hourly wage increase.

 

                 All paraprofessional employment opportunities shall be published system wide regardless of grade level.

 

(14)          Transportation Employees – The Board has agreed to make every effort to improve the “Bid Day” process which may include the posting of the runs prior to “Bid Day”.

 

(15)          Apprenticeship Program – Local 2250 and the Board will establish a joint committee to study and implement an apprenticeship program for skilled trades.

 

You will note that several classifications of employees received additional monetary gains.  These improvements were achieved because the Local 2250 negotiating team and Executive Board felt that these classifications had to be increased in an effort to make their respective wages competitive in the metro area.
