LOCAL 2250 AND BOARD OF EDUCATION

REACH TENTATIVE AGREEMENT

 

 

Local 2250’s negotiating team and representatives for the Board of Education have reached a tentative agreement on a one (1) year contract which becomes effective July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007. 

 

The Local 2250’s negotiating team and Local 2250’s Executive Board unanimously voted to recommend the agreement to the membership.  The agreement provides a five percent (5%) wage increase for all employees represented by Local 2250.

 

Food Service employees will receive an additional one percent (1%) increase on their salary schedule.  Health Services employees will receive an additional five percent (5%) increase on their salary schedule.  Longevity Stipend – All employees who have reached or will reach during this agreement the maximum rate of pay for their respective pay grade shall receive a $200.00 stipend.  Health Insurance – There shall be no increase in Healthcare premiums during the term of this agreement.  Current Contract – All current contract language unless changed by this agreement will remain in full force and effect during the terms of this agreement.  Working Out of Classification – Employees working out of their classification shall be paid the appropriate rate of pay for the classification he/she is detailed to after ten (10) days, reduced from 20 days.  Employee Promotion – When an employee is promoted or upgraded three (3) steps they shall receive an increase in pay which approximates a three (3) step increase.  Liability Protection – Increase reimbursement for destruction of clothing and eyeglasses from $200.00 to $300.00.  This agreement increases the reimbursement for watches from $75.00 to $125.00.  Leave for Death – Will now be titled bereavement leave.  One day of bereavement leave shall be authorized due the death of an aunt and uncle in addition to others included in this provision.  Tuition Reimbursement will be increased from $120.00 per credit hour to $200.00 per credit hour.  Contracting out of Work – The union and the Board will jointly establish a committee to study and address the issue regarding contracting out of work performed by Local 2250 members.  Central Garage Employees tool allotment shall be increased to $1,000.00.  Central Garage Employees in-service training shall be increased from 16 hours per year to 24 hours per year.  Food Service Personnel who have achieved the certification of American Food Service Excellence (ASE) shall receive an increase from .25 cents per hour to three percent (3%) per hour.  Food Service Personnel shall receive an increase in uniform allowance from $50.00 per year to $100.00 per year.  Paraprofessionals with an active state license or national certification shall receive a three percent (3%) increase in pay.  Announcements of Paraprofessional employment opportunities shall be publicized regardless of grade level.  Transportation Employees – The School Administration has agreed to make every effort to improve the “Bid Day” Process which may include the posting of the runs prior to “Bid Day”.  Apprenticeship Program – The union and the Board will establish a joint committee to study the implementation of an apprenticeship program for Maintenance and Central Garage employees.

 

You will note that several classifications of employees received additional monetary gains.  These improvements were the results of the Negotiating team agreement that these classifications had to be increased in an effort to make their respective wages competitive in the Metro area.

 

All members of Local 2250 will receive a mail ballot in the near future which will give each member an opportunity to vote on the tentative agreement.  It is very important that Local 2250 have your correct address if you wish to vote on this agreement.
